Here are some comments collected from over 31,000 (and counting) petitions submitted.

Why does Detroit continue to cram high horsepower muscle cars down our throats? What we want is fun to drive plug-in hybrid vehicles with plenty of torque.
I have a fully paid off SUV. When plug in hybrids are available in my area, I will jump at the chance. With a 20 mile commute, all I really need is a 10 mile all electric range because I can charge at work. This would cut my gasoline use by 90%!
There is no better time than now to curb our dependence on foreign resources. Plug-in vehicles are the best immediate solution we have and it should be enacted immediately for all auto makers to design and offer flexible fuel vehicles including PHEVs.
I plan on converting my 2004 Prius to become a plug in hybrid when the third party upgrades are available. It makes more sense for automakers to produce these type of cars from the factory. The writing is on the wall - act on it.
I believe the Plug-In Hybrid would be the single most important development in our generation. This would resonate with both democrats and republicans alike. Diminishing our dependence on overseas oil.
This must be done. Our future is dependent upon it.
I have a 30 mile round trip commute. A flexible fuel plug-in electric vehicle would virtually eliminate my need to stop at gas stations, all of which are out of my direct line of commute.
I am currently on the waiting list for a Toyota Prius. I would pay extra for a Plug-In option. I also would love to support American automakers and would do so if they produced a good Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle.
The only new vehicle I would seriously consider purchasing at this point would be a midsize sedan flex-fuel PHEV with 30-40 miles of electric-only range. Otherwise, I'll stay in the used car market.
Let's move on to a breathable atmosphere!!
I HAVE A PRIUS AND WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO PLUG IT IN!
I'm chomping at the bit for a PHEV! By the way, I'm a Republican.
I am a present owner of a Toyota Hybrid and would welcome the opportunity to trade up to a car that was a plug in hybrid.
Not very often does something come along that can literally save the world, PHEVs are a very real step in the right direction. You can choose where your electricity comes from, but not your gas.
I own a 2004 Toyota Prius and I love the feeling when the car operates on all electric. Unfortunately it leaves me wanting more!! I would strongly consider purchasing a flexile fuel plug-in hybrid.
Ready to buy. Where is the car?
Make it available and the public will follow.
As soon as a plug in is available on the market, I'll be down at that dealer's showroom placing my order. Hurry up!
I currently have a 2004 Toyota Prius and would love to go the "next" step to PHEV which will basically take care of 99% of my commute. PHEV is a win-win situation for automakers and consumers as well as the environment.
Until we get an electric infrastructure in place, the plug-in hybrid is the ultimate vehicle. It's been done with the Prius on an experimental basis and needs to be brought to the mainstream. Let's disconnect from foreign oil!
As the success of the Prius has shown, a hybrid that relies more on the electric drive system is superior. The plug in hybrid is the next logical step. I will buy one even if it costs significantly more than a conventional vehicle.
Build plug-in vehicles, we need them now! (please Toyota!)
I am extremely interested in this new technology as it will drastically help our country remove itself from oil dependency, and the national infrastructure is already in place to do it.
I am quite anxious to utilize this technology for my own benefit as well as for the overall benefit of the planet. I'm very interested in cheap, safe, convenient, and reliable transportation.
Hydrogen might be a long-term answer to some of our problems, but we need shorter-term solutions that make vehicles more efficient, reduce our use of fossil fuels, and reduce greenhouse-gas production. Plug-in hybrids are a great option. I'll buy one.
Energy security IS national security. Any automaker that decides to bring the PHEV to the market has my down payment --or even the full amount-- on that car immediately.
Let's build a plug-in hybrid in America and turn our auto industry around!
If Ford had a Plug In I'd buy one.
I completely support any efforts to free the US from foreign oil, reduce vehicle emissions, and empower the US to become energy independent.
Where can I place my pre-order for a PHEV?
I believe plug-ins are the best long-term solution to our transportation energy problem. They allow us to concentrate on the cleanliness and efficiency of centralized power plants without requiring the overhead of a new hydrogen infrastructure.
I currently drive a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I will not buy a gas only car again. When Toyota releases a PHEV that I fit in (6'8" tall) I will buy it!
I want to buy a plug-in car! Someone please take my money and give me a PHEV!
I'm not buying a hybrid until it is a plug-in. It's a waste of money until then.
I'm an electrical engineer that deals with off-highway vehicles and I have followed the technical arguments closely. Anyone that says we can't make practical PHEV's is wrong!
We need plug-ins and flex fuel cars now - not 5, 10 or 20 years from now. Now, now, now, now, now! Thank you.
If I could, I would trade in my car today for a plug-in hybrid.
Technology is ready. People are ready. What are you waiting for???
Plug-in hybrids offer an opportunity for some forward thinking company or companies to leapfrog the competition, gain extraordinarily positive press and make shareholders happy.
If your company offered a plug-in hybrid vehicle that would promise a relief to the pollution of the planet, I would certainly buy!
Let's go plug in!!! It's the RIGHT thing to do!!!!!!!!
This makes sense! Let's Do it America!
YIPPEEE FOR PLUG-INS! Now how do we make this MANDATORY so we can stop spoiling our air and our earth? Thank you for all your good work!
At the moment I have refused to buy a car for environmental reasons. I cycle and I know many other people in the same position. If there was a plug in electric alternative I would buy it without a second thought.
Please make the plug in hybrid vehicles it seems like an obvious idea. The demand is out there and the auto maker can charge a premium for these cars to recoup costs or add to profits thanks to the demand. A no brainer!
We can't wait to begin buying PHEV vehicles!!! It's for our future and our children's future!!!
I think that All Auto makers are wasting time and money by trying to go hydrogen when electric is proven and hybrids especially PHEVs are definitely here to stay and useable now.
Let’s get it done! Create jobs, energy independence, reduce terrorists funding, go go go!
I have considered purchasing a hybrid but have decided to hold off until plug-in vehicles are available.
I would happily pay the sticker price of a plug-in hybrid. I currently own a hybrid and am obsessed with fuel economy and concern for our environment.
